Pamoja girls
The purpose of the books are to create informal conversations, debates and talks through workshops with exercises and topics among subjects like my boobs, my uniqueness or my special place.
My focus in the project was to set an illustrationstyle, come up with a concept and interpretations based on the existing workshop material.
The books are inspired by Maslow's behavioural stair, each chapter represent a step and the workshops are based on that specific need or behavior.
Some of the charachter styles I explored to find a good balance between feeling gaiety and the serious topics. It was important to develop a illustartionstyle that would feel involving and fit on all bodytpe.
The charachter we landed on allowed us to be playfull but still fit the targetgoups age. With its somewhat unproportional limbs and soft shapes it feels incluseive and easy to portray without excluding any body types.
To build to the Pamoja girls comunity all the illustrated charachters are wearing pamojas yellow brandcolors. One of the big objectives was inclusion and representation, something we chose to highlight by showing different body types, skincolours, cultures and functional variations.
150+ women in 31 countries have created a book that will be utilised internationally to spark discussions among girls about the topics that unite us! Thank you all, together we empower girls all over the world to believe in themselves!
